Placement and Division Puzzles
In these puzzles you place pieces or divide the grid by clues. Fill cells with 0 and 1 or numbers, split the grid into rectangles or galaxies, or place tents, bulbs and stars under their rules.
Tools in this group
- Binary Puzzle — Fill every cell with 0 or 1: no three equal digits in a line, as many 0s as 1s in each row and column, no two lines alike.
- Fillomino — Fill every cell with a number so each group of equal numbers has exactly that many cells.
- Galaxies Puzzle — Draw walls to split the grid into galaxies: each holds one dot and looks the same turned half way round it.
- Light Up Puzzle (Akari) — Place bulbs so every white cell is lit, no bulb shines on another, and each number counts the bulbs beside it.
- Shikaku — Divide the grid into rectangles: each one holds exactly one number, and the number is its area.
- Star Battle — Place stars so every row, column and outlined region holds the same number of stars, and no two stars touch.
- Tents Puzzle — Give every tree its own tent next to it; tents never touch, and the numbers say how many tents each row and column holds.
