Printable nonograms are logic puzzle sheets that you print on paper, and this tool creates them for you right in your browser. Pick a paper size, puzzle size, difficulty and picture theme, then print the sheets or save them as a PDF. It is free and needs no sign-up. The sheets are made on your own device, and nothing is uploaded.
Each page holds one, two or four puzzles, and you can add an answer key at the end. Every puzzle has exactly one solution. Nonograms are also called picross, griddlers, hanjie, paint by numbers or picture logic puzzles, and the rules are the same. Everything you make here is free to use in class or in products you sell, such as KDP books or Etsy printables.

How to make printable nonograms
- Choose Paper: US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm). It starts with Letter in the US, Canada and Mexico, and A4 elsewhere.
- Choose Puzzle size: 5×5, 10×10, 15×15, 20×20 or 25×25.
- Choose Difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard.
- Choose Puzzle type: Random puzzles, Picture puzzles or Mix of both.
- If you chose picture puzzles, pick a Picture theme: All themes, Animals, Food, Nature, Objects, Faces, Holidays, Sports or Transport.
- Choose how many Puzzles per page: 1, 2 or 4. Four per page works up to 10×10, and two per page works up to 15×15. Sizes 20×20 and 25×25 are always one per page.
- Set the Number of pages, from 1 to 10.
- Choose the Answer key: “On separate pages at the end” or “None”.
- Tick or untick Title line and Name and date line to show or hide them at the top of each puzzle page.
- Check the preview. Use ‹ and › to move between puzzle pages and answer pages.
- Click Print, or click New puzzles for a new set.
The Sheet code field shows the number behind the current set: the same settings with the same code always give the same puzzles, and the page address stores every setting, so a bookmarked link prints the same sheets again later. To save only the page shown in the preview, use Download page as SVG. To make a PDF, click Print, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer, and set the scale to 100 % / Actual size with no extra margins or headers.
What are nonogram clues?
The numbers beside each row and above each column are the clues. Each number is the length of a block (a run) of filled squares, listed in order from left to right for rows and from top to bottom for columns. Between two blocks in the same line there is at least one empty square. A clue of 0 means the whole line is empty.
For example, a row of 5 squares with the clue “3 1” must be filled as three squares, one empty square, then one filled square. The total of 3 + 1 + 1 gap = 5 leaves no room for anything else, so there is only one way to fill it.
How do you solve a nonogram?
Start with the lines that leave no choice. If the clue numbers plus the required gaps fill the whole line, you know exactly which squares are filled. A clue of 4 in a row of 5 must cover squares 2, 3 and 4, because every arrangement of a block of 4 in 5 squares overlaps there. A clue of 0 means every square in that line is empty, so you can mark them all.
Once you fill or mark squares, check the crossing rows and columns again. Each new square can settle another clue. Keep going until the picture is complete, and check that every row and column matches its numbers exactly.
How do I save the nonograms as a PDF?
Click Print, then choose “Save as PDF” in the printer list. Set the scale to 100 % / Actual size and turn off any extra margins or headers, so the pages keep their exact paper size. The pages are drawn with a margin of at least 12 mm, so the clue numbers will not be cut off.
Which size should I print?
5×5 and 10×10 fit four to a page and suit children and beginners. 15×15 fits two to a page. 20×20 and 25×25 print one to a page so the clue numbers stay at least 2.6 mm tall.
Frequently asked questions
Are answers included?
Yes, by default the answer key appears on separate pages at the end. The answer pages are titled “Nonogram answers” and numbered to match the puzzles, so “Puzzle 1” matches “Answer 1”. For picture puzzles, the picture’s name appears only on the answer page, so it does not give the answer away. Choose “None” if you want a sheet without answers.
Which paper sizes are available?
You can choose US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm). The page starts with Letter in the US, Canada and Mexico, and with A4 elsewhere. Pages are drawn to the exact paper size, so you can print them at full size.
Is it free?
Yes. The tool is free, needs no sign-up, and makes the sheets in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Are the puzzles solvable?
Yes. Every puzzle on the sheets has exactly one solution, so the answer key always shows the only correct grid.
Can I print the same puzzles again later?
Yes. The page address stores every setting and the sheet code, so opening the same link gives the same puzzles and answers.
How many puzzles can I print at once?
Up to 10 pages. With 4 puzzles per page (sizes up to 10×10) that is 40 puzzles in one print, plus the answer pages.
Can I sell the printable nonograms I make here, for example on Etsy or in a KDP book?
Yes. The printable nonogram sheets, including the answer pages, are royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including KDP books, Etsy printables, Teachers Pay Teachers and print-on-demand. No credit is required. The only thing you may not do is copy the generator or the site itself to run a competing service; see the terms.
